If you’re looking for a pleasant suburb to call home, look no further than the Odessa neighborhood in the Tampa Bay Area. Odessa is ideal for raising a family or retiring due to its convenient location not far from the beaches or downtown and its diverse property types. Nothing lacking in Odessa! From lakefront houses to equestrian manors to master planned communities, older or new, in Odessa, you will find the quality of life you are looking for.

Odessa is located northwest of Tampa on the southern border of Pasco County and the northern border of Hillsborough County. Odessa is divided between those two counties. Some differences will affect your life depending on which county you live in, for example the school district, the amount you pay for property tax, and sales tax. If you didn’t know, taxes in Pasco County are lower than in Hillsborough County. To find properties in Odessa you will use the zip code 33556 as your criteria. It is no wonder that Odessa’s population has been growing steadily over the past few years as people discover all that this wonderful suburb has to offer. Odessa’s population was about 3,000 at the 2000 census and rose to over 8,000 people today due to its large community developments.

Odessa is situated in a great location and it offers easy access to other regions through the 2 main roads that run through the area. 54, a 6-lane road that runs from the Gulf of Mexico to Wesley Chapel passing by New Port Richey, Trinity, Lutz, and Land O Lakes. Also in the center of Odessa, there is the Veterans Expressway, the toll road that will take you to the airport, and Westshore District and will also connect you with I275 which will take you to the beaches and downtown Tampa.

Odessa had been an area of open spaces, lots of green, ranching, and horse properties but recently lots of large tracts of land have been bought by numerous suburban property developers changing the landscape of certain areas. Shopping for routine items is simple in Odessa since the new settlements and thousands of homes have created shopping plazas with supermarkets, restaurants, commerce, and professional offices. Close by are Trinity and Westchase, where you can find a variety of businesses as well as hospitals.

You can get to three malls in 20 minutes or less from Odessa, going down Gunn Highway or the toll road Veterans Expwy: Citrus Park Mall, International Mall, and Westshore Mall. You’ll be at Honeymoon Island State Park in 40 minutes from Odessa, which is one of my favorite beaches in the Tampa Bay area. There are also many other beaches to choose from, all within an hour’s drive.

Odessa offers a large assortment of home types and lifestyles. I believe there are four distinct alternatives in Odessa: large equestrian estates, lakefront homes, older residences in the major communities in the south of Odessa, Hillsborough County, and new homes being developed in Pasco County’s master-planned communities. Every one of those choices would provide you with a sense of rural seclusion, as well as plenty of greenery. The value of properties will vary significantly. The current median sales price is $640,000. The larger homes, particularly those with views of the lake, will be in the seven-figure range without difficulty.

Odessa is one of the finest places to live in Florida. Most residents in Odessa own their homes and many families reside in Odessa for the public schools that are well regarded. Odessa is home to many thriving neighborhoods, several of which are currently under construction. Starkey Ranch is one of the most popular ones because of its size and amenities. It was voted many times the best master-planned community in the Tampa Bay Area.

The residents at Starkey Ranch are surrounded by spectacular natural beauty and a strong sense of community. The subdivisions spring to life around parks and beautiful nature paths. There are plenty of facilities and activities that attract new neighbors and friends together. Inside the community, you will find schools, daycares, markets, a library, sports fields, and a community garden, and the highlight to me is that it’s adjacent to the Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Preserve, a park with 2,400 acres of preservation. Starkey Ranch is a unique kind of community that embraces nature like no other in the area. We have placed multiple families in this neighborhood and they love living there.

Starkey Ranch is a wonderful new community but it’s not the only one in Odessa. There’s also Taramor, Asturia, and The Preserve. Those communities offer great amenities such as community pools, miles of trails for hiking and biking, lakes, clubhouses, and more. In Odessa, you will also find older and well-established communities such as Stillwater, Grey Hawk at Lake Polo, The Eagles, Van Dyke Farms and Wyndam lakes. The main difference of all of those communities mentioned, beyond their age, will be HOA and CDD.
